password problem

Hi,
I have Win2000 professional, just trying to get familar with it. now when i come up to the log on screen my password doesn't work. Is there any way i can get around this and go in and reset it or something. Anything would be nice other than this. I would hate to have to reformat/reinstall over something like this. Thanks, for all your help.

When you installed, you set an administrator password. Can you log in as administrator with this password? If so, you can add and remove users.

If you run on FAT32 then boot with a windows 98 cdrom to the prompt and then change the drive to c:\winnt\system32\config and there delete the file SAM the restart your computer and when presented with the password login just hit OK for the adminstrator account -
if youare running NTFS then you can use a second Windows 2000 machine install your drive as a secondary master and do exactly the same as above - except ther is no need to boot from the windows98 cdrom - this will allow you to afterwards create a new password...
