A few of my icons do not look right
I store backups of my photos, wallpaper images, and programs that I've downloaded off the internet onto a CD-RW disc. From time to time I erase the disc so I can reuse it, but before I do that I copy the contents of the disc to my hard drive and then after I've added new material to the folder on my hard drive I re-burn the entire contents to the CD-RW.
Always worked good for me. Now tonight I notice that when I look at 3 programs on my CD the icons for those 3 programs don't look right. Instead they show that generic application icon that shows a white window with a blue border on top and the 3 little squares in the upper right hand corner(so basically the icon resembles a window). This is not correct. Not only does the CD show the wrong icons, but when I look at those programs on my hard drive, those 3 icons are also wrong(once again it just shows the generic window icon). Why is it doing this? I just don't understand. This hasn't happened before. |

It probably means you no longer have a program installed that's associated with those type files. What are the extensions?

All 3 are "Applications" and it looks like the extensions are .exe

There's nothing wrong if they will still run. Don't get so appearance-locked.

I'm just trying to understand the why of it, cuz it doesn't make sense. I know several weeks ago the power kept going off and on several times throughout the night, but I have a UPS. There's nothing wrong with wanting to understand why.

Some exe files have their own custom icons, some don't. Your generic icon is a correct display for those that don't.
