random restarts in windows xp

i've started having a problem with my system rebooting itself. its random. i could be accessing a harddrive, surfing the net playing games. the system would just freeze, then the screen would flicker very for a few seconds then reboot. but mainly when i'm surfing. when i'm playing games it would just freeze, then the screen goes black, then it would just reboot itself.

i only have stalker installed in xp not in vista. i dont use vista that much to see if the same thing happens. its getting to the point where its becoming annoying. its a system i built. the video card was installed a few days ago, mainly to play stalker.
any advice? help?

i will get a new power supply later today, and antec 500 watt, hoping and praying thats the problem.....

win xp pro sp2
vista ultimate on separate drive dual boot
ati x1650 pro agp
amd 3000+
msi mobo
1 gb ram
samsung 16x dvd burner
antec trupower 400 watt power supply
audigy 2 sound card.
zone alarm (free)
avg virus protection (free)

Have you disabled restart on error to see if it will bluescreen instead of rebooting?

If you disable restart on error, it will freeze on that bluescreen.

Control panel, system, advanced, startup and recovery.

ok
i've disabled restart on error. now what happens, everything goes black. the monitor light goes to orange. i have to manually reboot the machine......this is crazy.

edit: hey glc, i think i found the problem. i switched out the video cards. a game i was playing that kept freezing, i havent had that problem with the old video card. a geforce ti200. its old but it works. i guess its always good to keep an old card around.
thanks.
