XP svchost.exe error
I have a desktop that constantly recieves an Svchost.exe error. This referenced memory error will pop up at login and XP is never able to recover. I shut it down and it pops up at the login screen. Then when i try to login it says applying personal settings and never logs in. It also does not allow you to install windows updates. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this and a possible solution?

This has to do with windows update. This is the solution we found worked at work.
Turn off automatic updates. Delete the SoftwareDistribution directory uder c:\windows. Run the WindowsXP-KB894391-x86-ENU.exe from this site: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en. Reboot and run the windows update manually. Turn automatic windows update back on. Good Luck! Daisie |
