xp pro problems
does any one know were to get a copy of windows xp?
i have the key and what happened is my grandma hired someone to fix here computer and he switched the operating system to a non genuine operating system and microsoft won't let me update the computer or put iexplorer 7 this computer is a emachines and i was wondering if i could make some backup recovery disk of my compaq computer that runs xp and use the back up cds to switch the operating system to the operating system that the emachines comp.. came with |

If that's the case, I'd find the guy and get my disc back. You'll probably have to buy a new copy otherwise.

is there any way i could get a copy of my compaq and put it on her emachines because i run home and if i was going to find this guy my grandma would have to find the # and im pretty sure she lost it and hope i could get a hold of this guy and hope he would have the cd that i need so i can switch it back

The recovery disc for the Compaq is good only for that particular Computer, can't be used on a different brand.
The Emachine may have had only a recovery partion on the HD and if no recovery disc was made then need a fresh copy of XP. Could try magic jellybean to entry the XP product code from the Emachine. http://magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder.shtml

so i guess i got to go harass the guy the switched the operating system to give me the old one
thanks for the key finder i will see if microsoft just has a error (fingers crossed) |

If Pro is currently installed and Home is the Prod key on the case, it won't work to change the key. You would have to do a clean install of XP Home and use her Prod key off the case.

she has a xp home key thats genuine and the pro key that the key gave her is not genuine
im thinking of having a repair shop do a clean install and hope the guy didn't use her home edition key |
