XP Media Center Edition Lockdown

Ok everyone, I need some help here because I cannot find any information posted on the website and Microsoft's database of issues is very lacking.

Here it goes...

My computer is running XP Media Center Edition and I am locked out of it by a stop error. I have restarted it and every time a black screen appears with the options to start in Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Networking, Safe Mode with Command Prompt, Last Known Good Configuration, or Start Windows Normally. I have tried to start the computer in every single one of the modes. Even all the options on the screen braught up by the F8 key don't allow me access into the computer. Once a mode has been chosen, the Microsoft Windows XP start up screen flashes for a brief moment, (the one in which the green bar normally runs across the screen) and then it turns to a BSoD.

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Disable or uninstall any anti-virus, disk defragmentation or backup utilities, check your hard drive configuration and check for any updated drivers. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer.

Technical information:

*** STOP: 0x00000024 (0x00190203, 0x86742D78, 0xc0000102, 0x00000000)

Now I have already been searching the microsoft database and a Stop Error 0x00000024 does appear but it seems to be for Windows 2000 and it assumes that I can gain access to my computer to fix the situation. Any insight would be very helpful.

How old is your system, and could we have detailed system specs?

Repair install would probably be the quickest fix. You'lll need the XP disk and your product key.

Boot from original XP CD, bypass the first repair option, when you get to the next repair option select it and tell it to repair your existing version of XP.

This should at least get you to where you can boot into Windows assuming you don't have a severe hardware failure (bad hard drive, etc). If it is a crashed drive, you probably won't be able to do the repair install.

If you do get it to boot, run all malware scans, run checkdisk, defrag, run ccleaner and see where you stand after all of that.
