Icons not appearing on desktop
I have noticed for about a week I've been saving files to my desktop and I cannot see them. If I do a search with windows explorer they are there and I can open them but they don't show up on the desktop. What would acuse this? I am using XP home

Right click on the Desktop->Arrange by->make sure "show icons" is selected.

That worked fine, I actually tried that right after I posted. What causes this to happen?

My best guess is that the problem is usually somewhere between the chair and the keyboard
