firewall problem xp pro

After doing a repair on the os, I find that I locked out of the windows firewall. I think this is also causing the problem that I am having establishing an internet connection. Can someone help me with this?

Is it possible you have a secondary firewall software installed? Zonealarm, or something included with an antivirus suite? It is possible some other firewall software has disabled the windows firewall. Which version of XP are you using? SP1 or SP2?

What do you mean by locked out of the firewall? Please give more detail on what's going on with your firewall configuration pages? Are you logged in as the administrator?

Am logged as administrator. During the repair it appears that the os dumped sp2. The original disk is pro w/sp1. Do you know of any way that I can get into the firwall to reconfigure it.

A repair install will always revert your OS version to the original. It's highly recommended that you create a "new" XP CD by slipstreaming SP2 into your original XP SP1 disk. http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase...slipstream.asp has detailed instructions
