Fomat c
I need to format the C drive on my assistant's computer(Win2000 Pro). I can't get into safe mode. If I make a boot disk on my computer (same configuration as his) will I be able to use it to get to a command prompt? Is there another way to get to the c drive. The computer is not completing the boot cycle (keeps re-booting) and my tech thinks the profile is corrupted. We've saved the data onto cd earlier so that isn't a problem Any ideas?

Are you reinstalling Win2k? For XP, you can set BIOS to boot to the CD drive first, and the XP installation disc allows you to format and reinstall. Does the Win2k disc do the same, maybe?

Put your W2K disk in the CD or DVD drawer, reboot your machine and tap the delete key (or whatever key) during startup so as to access the BIOS, change the boot order to boot from CD first, then exit the BIOS saving the changes.
When you are prompted to "Boot from CD......" press enter and follow the usual instructions for format and reinstall.
