Home Network
I activated the Windows Home Network in my two PCs. Both are individually connected to the DSL Router. My question is: Does the 2nd PC have to be on in order for me to view files and folders? NOTE: The two PCs share the same monitor, keyboard, mouse and speakers via a KVM switch.

Not quite sure I understand your question there donsor, but to put it simply in order to view files and folders on any PC, the PC of which you want to view the files and folders of must be up and running, (turned on).. HTH

You've answered my question. My question was brought about because my two PCs share peripherals thru an KVM switch and although I have no problems using the peripherals by using the KVM switch, only one PC have to be on at a time. If I have both PCs on, the mouse and keyboard wont work in one of them plus the monitor shifts to a different resolution. I guess its either something is wrong with the switch or, it was not design with both PCs on at the same time. Does this make sense?

Everything sounds like it is working as it should there because that is exactly what the purpose of a kvm switch is. With your setup your screen shows the resolution of whatever the currintly active PC is throught the kvm switch.

True. But I lose my mouse and keyboard also. But this only occurs in the same computer. It could'nt be the connection because it works when I have that particular computer on by itself.

Try swapping the kvm connetors from one pc to the other and see if the problem follows the kvm leads or the pc.

I have used KVM switches for years and when I have a problem like you are describing, 99% of the time it is the KVM switch causing it. They seem to work OK for a while and then they crap out. I haven't been able to find one out there that would last for more then about two years.
