Download the programs in my signature, install and update them, then run everything from safe mode.

Do you use all those programs Kev?
Seems a bit much there, I know you have to stay safe but woah that must hog a fair bit of system resources?

Not really, you only run AVG all the time. The rest are scanners.

If you've been running Norton, you are likely infected.

Install all of the programs I advised and update them, then boot into safe mode and run all scans. If you still can't get Norton to uninstall after that, post back and I will help you get rid of it manually.

Stu--

You are showing how little you know about these programs if you think they use too much system resources. AVG is the only one that runs a resident shield and is generally accepted as one of the antivirus programs with the smallest footprint. AdAware SE and Spybot Search and Destroy are only active when running scans (if you do not use the Spybot immunization, which is unnecessary if you are running spywareblaster). Spywareblaster only adds known malware signatures to a disallowed list, does not run anything in the background.

Continuously tap F8 key while the computer is starting. You will be presented with a safe mode options screen. Using the up and down arrow keys, select safe mode and press enter.
