Business server

Hello all

I have been reading for the last couple days on servers and the ways we can use them. It would be for a business, five employees, I’m not really certain how it would benefit me or if it is capable of helping the way I would like it to. Here are my ideas hopefully somebody can help point me in the right direction. I would like all employees to be able to:

-look at orders (ordering software?
- Order online off our website? (More software?)
-know due dates for completion
-inventory, to work with bar scanners
-shipping
-receiving
-back up computer files
-fax utility
-possibly voip?
-e-mail back up
-other business apps
These are just ideas kicking around in my head, at the moment we are quite old school. But we are growing and finding it takes quite a bit of time and effort to stay on top of the paper trails. I could have a pro come in , but the don’t think I could handle the expense at the moment. Many other ideas, but seems very involved. I hope this makes sense to someone, because I am getting a headache just writing this (lol) I would buil my own server ( hopefully) I have read through the build your own server , very informative , but still am lost.

Sounds like most of your needs are related to having a decent accounting software package. Probably any ol 800 dollar pc with a large drive will do that you need.
