The Java Virtual Machine

Since I now am working with XP Professional SP 2, I have no Java Virtual Machine installed. I was wondering if I should go to Sun's site and download theirs. I really don't know if it's something that is really necessary, if all it does is allow you to view applets on some sites. Any input you guys can give me would be cool.

Have you had any problems that would require you to install it?

I never enable java on any of my systems and don't even miss it...

I'm not aware of any problems so far. So maybe I don't need it?

If you have not had any reason to need it, don't bother installing it.
