Activating an HP Pavilion
I inherited an HP Pavilion 6370 (manufactured during the Last Supper). It's in good working order and I'm getting it ready for donation. Because of important document files, I removed the old HD and replaced with with a similar one. I have the disk for Win98SE. Where can I get a step by step information regarding installing the OS? I've done it before but it has been so long and my notes were somewhat confusing.

Donsor.. your best bet is to do a clean install. When you boot up, go into the CMOS (frequently the ESC or F2 key) and change your boot sequence to CD first (have the 98SE CD in the drive). Options should come up to reformat the drive and then install the OS. Be sure that you have all the device drivers (sound card, modem, etc) before you do this.
Usually HPs come with a "Restore" disk rather than a pure OS CD. This would have all drivers, etc., except for any devices that you added later. |
