logs in, then instantly logs off

I boot my (other) computer just fine and then the login screen comes up, I type my pass and enter, then it shows my wallpaper as if its loading, then it goes back to the login screen saying "logging out" and "saving settings".

whats going on?!

when i put in the xp disc, theres a repair option, if i do that, it will repait xp ande not affect my files and games and programi installed right??

Could be a virus, do you know how to boot up to safe mode? That would be the first thing to try and see if you can get windows to boot to safe mode. Let us know.

From there you can remove whatever is causing the problem. Start by running the msconfig utility and check the startup tab and see what is there that may be causing problems, or in startup under programs.

I think i tried everything.
Since i cant get access to it, is there any way to get my files off it? I cant log in, but I need some files from the computer, is there any way to transfer the data to a disc, or another computer, or anything?
thanks

Can you get into safe mode?

Did you try going into safe mode networking and do a free online virus scan at Ewido.

If you want to start from scratch, if you have a spare computer or know someone who does, slave your hard drive in there and you can then save your files from your drive to a disk or whatever you choose.
