Win2k fresh install CD-ROM not reading CDs

Fresh install of Win2k. Ran all Microsoft Updates, Installed Motherboard software (Abit AN7) drivers, and WinZip 8.1.
Windows 2k, Windows SP4 and WinZip were installed from CD.
Motherboard drives via flash drive / thumb drive / stick drive (what ever you want to call it).

After the last reboot for the Windows Updates (NET 1.1 security updates and er, I forgot the others) I attempted to install Microsoft's Retail Management System. The PC would not read the CD, I checked on 4 other cd's both manufactured and burnt and then tried the cd's that had worked during the origional install, the PC see's the drive but nothing in the CD.

OK, maybe the drive died? I put in a new CD-ROM, same thing, I checked on ABIT's site and found nothing.
The BIOS sees the drive properly and Windows sees the physical drive properly.
No Security software installed yet only the software mentioned above.

CD's

Yes, As I stated I tried 7 CD's in this machine.
I have used some of them since then in another machine I am setting up RMS on so it is not a cd issue.

error mesage with Nvidia

BTW, I am getting an Nvidia error.
nvsvc32.exe has generated errors...
I origionally had version 71 drivers then upgraded to 89 and now the most recent (91). This error has not gone away.
My research has found very little as to what is causing this.
HOWEVER this error has occured since the begining, when the CD-ROM did work.
