Laptop running slow
My HP laptop running windows XP keeps slowing down. The processor seems to get bogged down and is running at 100% for no apparent reason. I've run CCleaner a number of times with no improvement. Deleted all temp internet files and did a defrag. Ran Symantic anti-spy also.
Any ideas? HP Compaq nc6000 (PL639UA#ABA) Number of processors . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .1 Processor Intel(R) Pentium(R) M processor 1.60GHz 512 MB RAM Also tried to get windows updates but for some it Update search times out Last edited by Rossl; 05-11-2007 at 10:31 PM. |

What is the process that is using up the CPU?
You might also try closing Symantec and replacing it with AVG. Symantec products tend to be major resource hogs. And you might also look into increasing your RAM to a full GB. RAM is very inexpensive right now.
