Setup Stalls at inspecting hardware
I have been unable to reinstall XP Pro SP2 on a computer here in the shop. Every time setup starts it gets to the spot where it says Setup is inspecting your computer's hardware. After that the screen goes black and nothing else happens.
I have tested the memory with Memtest and found no errors. What could it be? What can I try? thanks, alan |

Post back with your complete h/w specs maybe that will clue in on further details. How long have you waited with the black screen to see if something does happen? Also try standard troubleshooting procedures .. make sure that your mobo bios is updated; turn off all unnecessary onboard devices (audio, video, network etc) and try setting up Windows with an absolute minimal complement of hardware .. basically just CPU, RAM, Video card and HDD and try to do a windows install.
