Question Need XP Reinstall Disk

I've had my laptop (dell inspirion 6000) for almost 2 years now. It's been serving me well, but xp mce really needs to be reinstalled. However, there was no reinstall disk ordered with it. I read about a special parition, but will this actually reinstall XP from the start?

I have an old XP home disk (sp1) that installs on dell computers, but I guess there is no promises it will detect my laptop as a dell (if you install it, and it doesnt detect its a dell, it will ask you to activate). But also, I dont think it would have the needed drivers for my laptop.

Is there anything I can do? Its still under warranty.

Thanks!

PS- I read about the Dell PC Restore Parition thing. I know that reinstalls windows xp, but does that reinstall all of dell's programs (like AOL) too? Is this the best way to reinstall? Thanks

Call Dell Tech Support if you want to request for the CD. They should send you all CDs except for the Drivers CD. Since the Inspiron 6000 is no longer shipping at dell.com.

To access the PC Restore partiton you can hit CTRL + F11 on the Dell Splash Screen. The PC Restore will restore it to its factory state when you first got the system.

I recently went to their site for my Inspiron 2650 and found an option get an xp sp2 disc shipped to me for nothing. It is an exact duplicate of the xp install they gave with the original laptop but with sp2 already included.
