NV QWT RUNDLL ERROR Help Plez...
Tried to remove all the software and drivers related to an NVida Video card. Now when I start up i get this: NV QWT could not be opened. RUNDLL ERROR. I have run REG CLEAN and manually removed all the NV related files I could find. Where could this NV QWT RUNDLL related file be? Somewhere in startup configurations? How do I get into the startup configurations file to remove stuff?
New video card seems to be running alright. This is an old soyo6 BA+IV system. Thanks |

With Windows 98 things could be hidden in several places. One place to look is in your config and AUTOEXEC.BAT files. Also there are two INI files to look in, if I remember right they are called Win.ini and system.ini. I believe you can access them through msconfig.

nightsky - were you able to resolve the missing nVidia file error on Startup?
If not, you likely didn't completely remove the older nVidia card's drivers. RegClean 4.1 isn't the most thorough Registry Cleaner (but it is handy & free). Why don't you let CCleaner have a go & see if your results are better --- http://www.download.com/CCleaner/300...-10315544.html But before you run CCleaner, try 1) Boot into Safe Mode 2) In Device Manager, remove the older video card (and any other video cards that are no longer in use, but are listed) from the "Display Adapters" category. 3) In Control Panel's Add/Remove Programs, remove any orphaned nVidia software entries. 4) In Windows Explorer, check for orphaned nVidia program folders in C:\Program Files and in C:\Program Files\Common 5) Reboot. I'll assume you already checked things in the System Configuration Tool (msconfig), like TwoRails advised. Then run CCleaner. Let it clean out unused temp files with it's "Cleaning" functions. Then run the "Issues" functions a few times, until CCleaner reports "no issues found". See how that goes . . . Gary [ and Hi There Rails -- I should be able to drop by the forum more often eventually -- our PTA has been keeping me busy, and I think I've checked enough of my kids' homework for several lifetimes!] |

Msconfig
Googled windows98se rundll and found an old post reminded me how to get into MSCONFIG and STARTUP (run msconfig) . Found the Nvida QTwk Daemon referrence and unchecked it. The original culprit was Spybot.. disabled it at startup too and now don't know how to start it up manually. lolol BTW before
problem was resolve ran the old 'Clean Reg' didn't help. Thanks everyone |
