I'm running Windows XP Professional on my PC. I use Firefox as my internet browser.

My computer shuts down when I'm in the middle of something all the time! I get a prompt that has to shut down and the problem will be reported to Microsoft. Then it shuts down in 60 seconds.

"Services and controller app has encountered a problem and needs to close" I have no idea what this is all about.

What kind of computer is this? Home built or name brand?

What are the specs?

Do you scan for viruses and malware on a regular basis?

Did this problem always occur or did it just start to happen?

Does it do this in just one certain program or does it do this anytime using any software?

It's an HP not home built. Barely a year old.

not sure of the specs - it's at work.

I do a virus scan (AVG) I also have AdAware and Spybot- I do a virus, malware, spyware scan at least twice a week.

It was happening quite often when I was using outlook express. I changed my browser to Firefox and it stopped for a while.

It would only happen once in a while- now it prompts me to shut down even when I'm not on the internet. It happens with any software.

I hope I'm making sense.
