Slow laptop .exe file(s)?
A friend has a compaq laptop that has been running very slow. I've used CClean, Adaware, Spybot, have all current XP updates installed, including Explorer 7. I've also scanned with AVG and Housecall. Since this helped my HP a great deal I offered to help out with the Compaq.
I noticed everytime I shut it down, a window opens for HPqimzone.exe and exporer.exe. Each one says the program is not responding and they time out. The person that owns the laptop deleted some of the software that originally came loaded on it. I suspect that there may be something in the start file that is opening and stays open until I shut down. How can I find and delete these files safely? I also noticed that the C drive is formatted for NTFS ad the D drive is formatted for FAT32. Is this OK? |

A program called What's Running is good if you know what you are doing. It shows startups.
Does he have plenty of free disk space? |
