Printscreen

I don't know if this feature is part of the WinXP Operating System but when I press on "PrtScr" nothing happens. Is this provision to enable me to print or file what's on the screen when I press this button?

The printscreen buttom takes a virtual image of your screen and stores it on your clipboard. After pushing the button, press Ctrl+V (paste) on any imagining application - the picture of your screen when you pressed the PrtScrn button should appear.

1.) Press the... "PrintScreen" key to capture the entire screen
or.. Press the.. "ALT+PrintScreen" keys simultaniously to capture
just the active Window.

2.) Open or switch to MS Word or MS Paint and hit.. "CTRL+V" to
paste the image into a WORD document or MS Paint.

3.) Use.. File-->Save to save the document or Paint image.

Note: This works with MS Word or Paint or any program
that allows you to paste images into.

I done that but nothing shows, nothing that I could paste the image to. I don't have the MS word or Paint. With Gadwin the captured screen goes directly to My Documents or any other file I wish to direct it to. But it does give out a dialogue box after I press the button. With PrtScr, nothing happens after I press Ctrl + V. any other suggestions?

The Print Screen key does not give you any messages or dialog boxes. You have to have a program that can receive the information. Most modern word processors can work, and most photo editors will work with it, also.

When you have pressed Print Screen, you'll have the image saved to your clipboard. Open Paint and Paste the image. This is under the "Edit" menu.

First, press Print screen. It will give no indication that you've pressed the button. Then, go to Paint and press the Control Button and the "V" button to paste the screenshot.

I've used this freeware utility before. It works very well and has a lot of features.
