Registry

Is it possible to identify which registry belong to what program in the list in Regedit? I'm invisioning that when a software or program is loaded, that WinXP creates a specific registry code. If it is identifiable, then is it transferrable (as in copying it and loading it into another PC along with the associated program. The question seem far fetched but I'd like to know anyway.

Unless the program is specifically allowed by the EULA to be installed on more than one pc, what you are proposing would be technically illegal. If multiple installs are allowed, I would think it would be easier and less trouble prone to just do a proper install.

Most programs will write many many many entries to the registry. You'll need em all

Many of these many entries are not easy to idenitify...

Registry

I just thought I was up to something. Guess not. But then how does the "ghost copying" work? I understand that the Norton Ghost or the Acronis Tru Image makes it possible to copy the entire shebang including the OS and reload it elswhere.

They do copy the whole shebang, but only for the purpose of backup and restore.
