How much freespace does your hard drive have?

Do you defrag your system often?

Check for viruses and malware regularly?

Do you keep the inside of the computer clean?

How's the case cooling setup?

In addition to Crickets comments, do you remove temp files periodically? Clear cache & cookies? Do you have the latest drivers for installed components? Is this a recent problem? Have you installed any new applications recently?

Do you have any on these all encompassing suites like Norton or McAfee running in the background. Could be an app running intermittently in the background causing the slowdown.

Test your hard drive with the manufacturer's diagnostic utility. It could be developing bad clusters/sectors.

What kind of computer is this? Home built or name brand?

What are the complete system specs? List the parts by brand and model including the power supply.
