Windows XP Startup Options

When I start my PC I get a momentary screen that gives me the option to start Windows XP or Microsoft Windows Recovery Console. I can read the screen if I am quick in hitting the Puase key, otherwise it disappears! There is a statement to the effect that the highlighted choice will be started automatically in 0 seconds, hence why the screen disappears! I would like to increase the time the screen stays on in case I should ever need to use it. Can anyone tell me how to do this?

What kind of computer is this? Home built or name brand?

Exactly which version of WinXP are you using?
