Unhappy win98se desktop

I keep getting strange unknown icons with letters under them every time
I start my system. Anyone have suggestion on how I might correct this?

Scan your system for malware. Read some threads in the Security forum for suggestions on what to use.

use norton or avg anti-viruses or spywares .
