Driver backup question

I have a driver installed for a matrox video capture card, but have lost the installation CD. The driver is not available for free download (As best as I can tell).

I'm wondering if there are any steps I can take to backup the driver so I can do a repair install of XP. Is it as simple as locating the .sys file through the device manager and saving it somewhere else? Can I just copy and paste the .sys file back into the appropriate folder and expect it to work again? Something tells me this won't work, but maybe......

Thanks in advance.

I don't think you are going to have very good luck just copying files. I could be wrong, but I believe driver files are in more than one place.

Can you contact Matrox and get a replacement disk?

Did a little Googling:

http://www.drivermagician.com/

There are other packages out there that supposedly can back up drivers too.
