Programs not closing correctly

Running Windows XP Pro with all updates.

When I have a program open such as IE7, Outlook Express and a few others, then close the program, and when I try to reopen it later, my computer freezes. I do ctrl, alt, delete to bring up task manager and it shows 2 instances of the program running. The one I thought closed and the new one trying to open. Sometimes and I can get them to close by using end task, other times I have to restart the computer to clear the problem.
Any help greatly appreciated!

are you still overclocking? Using ''end task'' is the last resort, and often you should reboot anyway as having to end a task means something isn't right.

I would do as indicated above and run a full AV & malware scans, and also posting your specs would help.

Not a fan of Panda software - had issues with it in the past. Try shutting down all of Panda applications and see if that clears up the problem. If it does then I'm sure you know what to do - kill that Panda.

Panda Software

I am a fan of Panda Anti-Virus, have had it installed in my various computer for over 10 years and have never had a virus. Every once in a while I start to wonder so I download and run Spy Bot Search and Destroy, Ad-Aware, CWS Shredder and a on-line virus scan from another company.
They have never came up with one virus or spy ware and no I don't work for Panda!

Oh, by the way I tried a complete un-install of the Panda Software just to check and that did not help the problem.
