IRQL not less than or equal
Running MCE2005 on the computer I built a few months back. I think this has to do with Windows update installing Media Player 11. I don't remember seeing this error before that. After reboot from BSOD Windows messenger says "Media center receiver service has encountered an error". Also I am having a problem with the Mpeg2 decoder.
I am not sure the best way to remove Media Player 11. If I uninstall does it roll back to MP10? Also I've downloaded some codec packs trying to get a decoder that would work. Will this complicate things farther?

There should be a un-installer for WMP11 in Add/Remove programs. This should roll it back to WMP10 - as you thought.
Too many codec packs can cause a few issues, so sticking to just one is best. Personally, I use one of the k-lite codec packs and then update with the Alternative Quicktime and Real Player codecs as they never seem to work correctly when installed from the codec pack. |
