Widescreen TV

I just hooked up my computer to my Widescreen TV, but XP won't switch to a widescreen format.

Is there something I can download to fix this.

I have an ATI X1300 pro for a video card if that helps.

Try setting the resolution for the external display in Display Properties to a Widescreen Resolution (1200 X 800)

I'm not sure I understand.

I go to properties, and the only options it gives me are 2 full screen options. I don't think it recognizes my monitor.

If there is something other than properties I should go into, please tell me.
