Windows XP Log in Issue
Hello.
Every time we log out of a user account; for example, If my brother logs off the computer and then I go on, I cant enter in my password unless I re-boot, this happens every time someone logs out. Even my mum, whos account isn't passworded can't get on after, and it asks her for a "non existent" password. How can i fix this from happing? I have a legit copy of Windows XP...so I dont think thats the problem |

It doens't log on. It also gives my mum's account a password, even though hers isn't password protected.

what happens
Do u get any error messege when you enter your username and password to log in?
It must be asking your mom a password because your mom might have assigned a password to herself when making her account. u can log into the computer , do 1 thing: go into control panel----> user account---->and enter into your moms account and see if she has password change option. If she has password change or password delete option, then she must have a password assigned to her account. |

you said
You said that you can log into your account after you restart your computer when your brother finishes using it. So log into it ( i am sure you have admin account in WinXP) ,open control panel, go to user accounts and see if you can view the account info of your mum.
Just see if you get any option like change password or delete password. Delete password and assign a new password to your moms account. Also you can easily change your password of your account as well. |

Ok, it is a strange problem, try 1 thing.
Try to restore your computer to previous state. Go to start--- All Programs----->Accessories------>System Tools----->System Restore. A System Restore window will appear ,just click on "restore the system to earlier state". I am 40% sure this will solve the problem not completely sure but just give it a try. The local account of your WinXP is corrupt of there is something wrong with user configuration of your WinXP. |
