Outlook Express cannot find server

When I go to read mail or delete mail in Outlook Express I get the message "cannot find server" this happens both with Hotmail and with Verozon mail.

I am using XP Home SP2 on a home built computer that has been working good for over a year. I am using Verizon DSL and I called them and they cant fix it and told me to call Microsoft. My wife is also using a home built comptuer and her OE is working fine. they are connected together with a Linksys wired router.

Send a message via MSN to AlwaysUp
How many mail accounts are you accessing with OE? Have you recently added or changed any account data?

After working on this for three days I found out that it was a new firewall I had installed called Comodo that was causeing the trouble. I removed it and Outlook Express was back to normal.
I had help from another forum.

Comodo should allow you to connect using OE. That's what I'm running on my last windows box. It should notify you when Outlook express is trying to connect to the server and you should have the option to allow or disallow it to do so.

My wifes computer, which I built and is sitting 4 ft. away from this one is running Comodo and has no problems. Why it won't work with this computer is a mystery.

Thanks for the reply. I'm using zone alarm again.

If you are behind a router, the XP SP2 firewall is adequate. 3rd party firewalls can be a pain to get working right.
