My Music and My Pictures... how to...

Can someone tell me if there is a way to change the folder that photos and music are stored when using My Pictures and My Music in XP???

I have a second hard drive for storage and want to keep them in there, but would like to utilize the My Pictures and My Music folders...

Probably the simplest way to do it is to use Tweak UI for XP and change the shell folders location (My Computer > Special Folders).

You can move your entire My Documents structure by right clicking on it, properties, move. My Music and My Pictures are subfolders of My Documents.

no, i have it done on my system. but dont forget to take regular backups of your data so you dont lose it ever. I have all my music and photos on my 2nd internal HD, (not the one with the OS), but then i also have an external HD which i regularly back the whole my documents folder to.

No drawbacks - doing it this way keeps the pointers sorted in all programs that use that structure. It actually makes backups easier.
