Windows shutdown freeze

So I just finished building my system:
E6600
Gigabyte P35
2Gb Corsair
500GB Seagate SATA
8600 GTS

And I just installed windows 64. When I shut it down tho it gets to the screen saying "windows saving your profile", or something of that sort, just freezez. Mouse, ctrl+alt+del, etc. You can actualy hear how (probably) HDD stops, and the keboard lights blink twice.

This happen in safe mode as well

After this I said I would install the XP copy I have on this system I am writing from x32, and it happens the same thing. It just freezes.

Also there is no standby button, it's grayed out. What do I have to do? what did I do wrong. I have let it boot with only 1 ram dimm and same problem.

Is this hardware problem? It happen with both version of XP I have, but I also read a lot of other software problems which tells about this freezes. Example: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=307274.

The windows x64 had SP2, my XP x32 has SP1.

As far as I understand its a hardware issue, do u get any error messege when your computer freezes at shut down?

Do 1 thing, right click "My computer"---->Properties----->Advance---------> under startup and recovery ,click settings and uncheck automatic restart under system failure.

And then start your computer again, and shut it down, just let us know what happens now when you shut your computer down.

No errors.
At the "saving your profile" window the keyboard just blips 2 times with it's LED's, and you can hear how somehow the HDD or something is shut down, and the screen just stays at that message.
It's the same when I uncheck that automatic restart

Have you checked your system for virus and spwares? do you have anti-viruses and anti-spyware installed in your system? make sure that these softwares are updated, just scan your system with these softwares and see what is the result.

Do you face the same problem when you boot your computer in safe mode?

I think there is something wrong with your Power Supply

No I don't have any antivirus or spyware simply because there is absolutely nothing installed except windows xp and my mobo drivers.
It does the same in safe mode as well.
Is there a way to double check if it's the power supply?
