Windows ftp service

I just configured windows server 2003 ftp server for accessing a couple of my files through the internet but it does not work. I changed the tcp port to 8000 and for ip i assigned my local computers ip. When i connect from an internet browser it displays page not found.

Do you have a router? If so then point you wan IP to your ftp server IP, and port. (I would give the ftp server a static (LAN) IP.

Now do you have a dynamic or static IP from your ISP? If it's static then your good to go, a dynamic IP on the other hand you need to use a DNS service. they offer them for free here

You need to connect from outside your LAN, have a friend try to access your ftp srver.
