Game causing reboot
Ok 1st real major problem on this new build. A while ago I was getting Irq not equal or lower BSODs but this seemed to disappear after rolling Media Player back to 10, wiping all the various codec packs and just buying 1 good DVD viewer codec.
Now the problem is a new game is causing my machine to reboot. A few friends wanted me toi join them on EVE online. No problem 14 day free trial. But, there is a certain point in the game (fight for 1 of the missions) where every time I try it my computer reboots. No error message. No BSOD. Just reboot and everything restarts like normal. This does not happen with ANY other application or game. The only difference is that on restart I see the irq/dma resource pool info before windows launch. The only other time I remember seeing that screen was when I was getting the Irq BSODs. Here's what I have done so far since this started. After each time I got reboot at same spot in game. Uninstalled and reinstalled newly downloaded drivers for sound and graphics cards. Tried running each RAM chip individually. Tried swapping the RAM. Uninstall the game download new client and reinstall in case I had coruppted download. But what I find when I check the resourses is that the graphics card is on Irq 16 with 6 other items. Is there a way I can change the Irq for the graphics card? I understand that with ACPI it is difficult to assign new Irqs since there should be no conflicts.

OK this was really weird but finally figured out. 1st off it didn't create any errors in the system log. But I finally found it on the forums for the game.
Eve (and maybe other games) + Intel 975 chipset + Realtek sound drivers causes the reboot error. The 2 repairs mentioned are 1) turn OFF hardware acceleration under sound tab in RUN > dxdiag (this is what I did) or 2) disable sound in the game (didn't try it but a lot of posts say it works). |
