Fixing XP boot
Today I made an attempt at turning my Toshiba laptop into a hackintosh. I installed it but got an error about ACPI drivers and was unable to solve the problem. I've been trying to boot back into XP unsuccessfully. Using Ubuntu I've deleted the OSX and Sharing partitions and re expanded my XP partition to take up their old space. That went fine.
Before and after I changed the partitions with Ubuntu trying to boot from the harddrive and into XP would give the message that NTLDR could not be found. I've used my XP CD and used fixmbr and fixboot. fixmbr completes but fixboot gives the message that the system disk could not be found. I used fixboot C and got a successful message. Now however when I try to boot from the harddrive it trys to boot from my lan connection.
I'm at the ends of my rope when it comes to this. I could reformat and reinstall XP but that would be a huge chore. My laptop was a vista laptop before and finding all of the various drivers for XP took a long time. I'd rather not have to repeat the process. So if anybody has any idea's tell me.
