Computer Shuts Off
I have a friend that is trying to reformat his laptop computer using the DVD that was provided with his computrer. However, we are having a bit of a problem because of what happens:
We restart the computer with the DVD in the drive and wait for the screen to tell us to press any key to boot from CD. After doing so, Windows does it's set-up process as it seems to search for hardware. At this point, the computer shuts off completely. Sometimes, we would get to the Windows set-up screen where we have the options to Repair or set up Windows. Even sometimes at this point, the computer just shut's off.
First thing I thought was the computer is overheating. After propping the computer on books, we tried again, with no luck! Then we tried to see if it would boot normally into Windows XP. Had no problems what so over and even left it on for about 30 minutes and still no power off.
Tried again doing the reformat and the computer shut off! Does anyone have any ideas of what is prohibiting the computer to do its thing?!!
