tripple boot query?

hello everyone,

I need some in help in a problem. well, first let me tell you the setup, I have 30GB linux hard drive which i boot off and it also shows and option Windows, if I choose windows it takes me to the second hard drive 500GB which is partitioned in 4 and each partition has a windows operating systems installed

Windows 2000 pro
Windows server 2003 (web edition)
Windows XP
Windows XP pro

I would like to remove Windows 2000 and Windows 2003 server now and would still like to keep the other 2 OS's. I can backup all the data on the 2003 server and 2000 pro and I would like to format and keep these 2 partitions as one single NTFS partition

I am not sure where to start on this and once I have erased these OS's how can I edit the boot.ini file to not show in the windows dual boot menu?

You can reformat the 2003 partition no problem.

The 2000 partition will be an issue since it houses the boot information. You can, however delete all the folders on that partition.

The boot.ini file is located at c:\boot.ini

Simply open it in notepad and delete the two entries (for 2000 and 2003).

If you have partition magic, you can shrink the c:\ and take the free space and add it to the partition that contained Win 2003.

Honestly, I have no idea. I've only come across this situation once before and went the safe route (as I detailed above).

The other issue is drive letters. If you delete the first partition, the drive letters may move around and programs may be looking in the wrong location for things. That, and you will have to adjust the boot.ini file to match the partition changes.

All in all, if you shrink the partition to 100MB or so, everything should still work fine and would avoid all of these other problems/issues that may cause you to have to reinstall everything anyway.
