VPN Windows XP

I'm attempting to setup Windows XP as a VPN server to allow people to back up files on. From this computer I can log in to the VPN using 127.0.0.1 but not through any of our remote addresses for the computer.

I've enabled port forwarding on our router on port 1723. I've tried disabling firewalls and putting the computer in the DMZ but to no avail.

Can anyone suggest where I might be going wrong?

Thanks,
B
