ac97 audio drivers
I am putting together a pc for a kid and I cannot get the ac97 drivers that I d/l`d from Intel website to work. I d/l the chipset id tools and found out I had the 815EP chipset, d/l the newest drivers and such (17mb) but when I install the pc locks up on reboot when going into "found new hardware" mode..If I uninstall pc works fine , but i need to get the sound fixed as i have a unhappy 8 year old that I am trying to help.....
Please give any and all replies....' as far as I can tell sound is enabled in the bios as this was once a pc in a work environment .... no I don`t want to "nuke and pave"..... so , let`s hear those suggestions .... And away we gooooooooooooo....... Thanks Dick

Or download and install Belarc Advisor. It should help you.

well I have been doing my homework and found out that I have a "LuckyStar" m/b.....................
so now I am going too go get a sound card and put it in........... the drivers were impossible to find............ thanks again all.. Dick |

Ed, that looks like an excerpt from a Belarc report. I've seen that a lot with Belarc - it can't ID real cheap offbrand boards.
A sound card looks like the best solution, just make sure you turn off the onboard in the bios. |
