Missing files

It seems like often when I install new hardware similar issues come up. This time it is a USB 2.0 card. My system info and the card etc. is here. http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=183711

I installed the card fine and got this message when prompted to load the drivers.

I have it look for the best driver, point it to the Disc and folder the installation instructions say too. It shows that the file is in C:\Windows\INF\USB.INF

When I tell it accept (or whatever the prompt is) it says Please insert the disc labeled 'Windows 98 Second Edition CD-Rom' and then click OK. It doesn't find it on eithber one of my Gateway CD's. When I click okay it says "The file 'Openhci.cys' on Windows 98 Second Edition CD-Rom cannot be found.

Before when similar issues like this popped up the Gateway tech would have me copy from cabs on C. (Don't remember the exact path.) It was still in cache, so I tried that and it still din't find it.

Is this missing stuff from Win98SE or Gateway's tweaking of it, or the wrong disc? Where would I find this file and continue installation? I can probably get a hold of a regular 98SE disc if need be, but it seems like that didn't help the last time this type of issue came up.

Thanks.

The Koutech website is not responding right now, but I suspect you need to point the driver install to somewhere on the disk that came with the card. Do not accept anything in c:\windows\inf or the 98SE CD, browse to the correct location on the disk.

The cabs path is c:\windows\options\cabs.

I did point it to the disc as it said, but it still seems to want to look at the place it said when it attempts to find it anyhow. Do I not have it look for the best driver, but instead do a specified one and use have disk? When I tried that before it had three different ones that came up I think. I will try to go home tonight and go step by step on what I am doing to get this and post it here.

Try using have disk. Pick the most correct of the ones it offers, the single Koutech disk may be for several different cards.
