probabbly not a complete install. boot to the Windows XP CD again and redo the installation from scratch. that means you have to format your C drive

I have loaded XP Home and it now seems that I have loaded two copy's of XP.
My drive has two partitions and there is a copy on each, when the PC starts it asked select the operating system to start. Could you advise how I can remove one of them and loose the select the operating system bit
Cheers

okay. lets see. the easy way would be to reformat both partitions and then reinstall windows. which should have worked the first time. not sure what happened.

the more round about way:
IF BOTH YOUR XPs CAN BOOT, boot to the one on the C drive. format the D drive while in windows. then reboot. if it still ask you which version of XP to choose, restart and boot to your Windows XP cd. press "r" to repair when the blue screen comes up listing the options. then when it gets to the black screen , type "fixmbr" without the quotes. apply and reboot. that should solve your problem.

i doubt you have any files on that thing. but make sure you back up if you do.
