Double taskbar problem in XP

I am sure you guys will have heard of this before. My friend has a double taskbar appear in XP. Is there a way to get rid of this. This double taskbar is on the bottom of the XP screenn not internet explorer. The problem started about 4 days ago.
Any suggestions welcome.

If I undestand you correctly.

You should be able to right click on the task bar and untick the selection "Lock the taskbar" then simply click and drag the task bar downwards so that it is back to normal size.

The taskbar isn't locked and she has tried to drag it down off the screen but no success.
