IE issues after sp2 install

just recently reformated my had drive and reinstalled xp pro with all updates then installed sp2, all works except having some issues with my internet explore 6. When connecting to the internet with my my cell phone as my modem (alltel) all works good untill after a few minutes then i get, "The page cannot be displayed" but my moden is still connected. This only happens with sp2 installed, sp1 works great. I have updated my drivers and still no luck. My motherboard is a asus a7n8x . I really would like to get this issue worked out so i can use sp2. Onr more thing only using avg and IE firewall right now, still happens if i disable both.

thanks

Are you sure your cell phone isn't losing wireless signal?

I used my verizon phone for a little while and had that problem, i found an updated version of the connection software and it worked fine, when was the last time you updated your software. if you cant find it on their web site you may be able to contact tech support and they either can tell you how to fix the problem or they will also send you a cd with updated software, i know verizon wont charge you anything to send out a cd, i am not sure about alltel but i am sure if anything it wont cost you more than $5 if they are feeling greedy, but like i said tech support should be able to tell you how to fix this problem if a software change doesnt work

called my provider and no updates of patch files were avaibale so i thought i had all sp2 updates loaded so went ahead and done that. Downloaded some free spyware etc. programs and ran those , now all seems working well, must of been some viruses. i use avg. spybot, avast, zonealarm. Also im trying IE7, any good recomadtions on broweres that load quicker then IE

thanks

That was what I was going to suggest next. Sounded like spyware to me.

The free porgrams that I install on every customer computer work well without any others. They are:

AVG anti-virus
AdAware SE
Spybot Search and Destroy
Spywareblaster
Ccleaner

Too many computers in this house to list. They are all my builds, some AMD some Intel...

For alternate browsers, try Opera and Firefox.
