Computer reguard. Please help.

Hello,
This isn't kind of forum related but this is computer related. Ok, so let me tell you what I always do to go on computer and what is happening now.

Normally: I just turn on my computer, and I wait, and it tells me to Login, so i login, put my password, turn the volume up(If i don't, it won't load, i have tested and tested, i know, weird), and as always, it takes me to my computer, I see the background of my computer, and my icons, and it loads up msn, aim, YIM, and other ****, cool!
-------------------
As of today: I turn on my computer, wait for it to login, i login, put my password in, i turn the volume up (as usual, but then this is weird, it just never loads up, i waited 5 minutes, but it only loads up the background. Nothing else: no icons, no msn loading, not aim laoding... I have tried for exactly 51+ Times, it just is the Same. I have even turned off my computer and waited for 15-3 hours, it doesn't work! All my files/pictures is in my computer, what do I do? anyone facing this problem also?

(Maybe)Reasons: Maybe it's because of me sometimes unplugging computer, and turning off(Not in the computer, but at the computer. Or it could be my computer had a virus. Can anyone help? Please send me a e-mail at: [link removed]

Your help can save a life!

P.S: I'm using my friends computer, he is moving so i don't get to use it much!!!

What kind of computer do you have? Home built or name brand?

What operating system are you using?

Have you tried booting into Safe Mode yet?

Secretmaple, I removed your email address. Not a good idea to have it visible here unless you want to get on someone's spam list.

It's a SONY VAIO? How old is it? If it's still within it's warranty period you should take it in and have them look at it.

What country are you in?

It's not a matter of whether people here or anywhere are nice or not - ANY public display of e-mail addresses will be picked up by spambots that cruise all the forums out there.

Your dad did not build a Sony Vaio - Sony built it.

Maybe you should call your dad. He knows what's inside it then - we sure don't and I don't think you know enough to be able to tell us what we need to know. The other option is take it in to a repair center.

Don't worry about the data (Pictures/Documents) as you can remove the hard-drive and transfer the data that way; you might just need the adapter as laptops have a 2.5 inch hdd not 3.5 as in desktops.

I'm inclined to think that the motherboard or another component is at fault here - the mentioning of having to turn the volume up and the un-plugging of the mains/battery are clues.

My mistake, mis-understood the bit where he stated that he un-plugged the computer.

Anyhow, it's possible that the hdd could be corrupt and maybe a scandisk should be run to confirm. But, it's also feasible that there is some damage to the hardware from the abuse of the un-plugging.

If your dad built the inside then I'm very inclined to think it's a desktop PC (my logic). I'm really wondering if at all your speaker volume had anything to do with the problems or if it's completely coincidental. For clarification, when you shut down the computer are you doing it while Windows is still on or do you go through the shut down process? If something's happening to make you have to shut down the computer by unplugging it then that can really screw things up in the OS, maybe not immediately but eventually.

As for questions about software and the OS, there are too many of them. Starting with the version of service pack you're using to the question of which programs/services you have installed to possible viruses gradually messing with your system. In the hardware area, there are questions such as if there's the proper power running through the system (if your dad messed with the insides then there's no telling what mistakes could have been made - no matter how smart a person seems to be s/he's still a fallible human) or if there are temperature issues to be concerned about or possibly just a damaged/defective part. So many questions, so few answers so far.

We are all working off unknown info here - the OP says it's a Sony Vaio but also says that her/his dad built the insides. Something is not being said here. I think it's counterproductive for us to speculate any more.
