Bios Boot

I Don't know if I am in the right forum, but I have a Dell C610 laptop that has win2k pro, and I need to get in the bios, but when I F12, as it says during boot, it only gives me the following options:
HDD
Network NIC

It does not give me any other choices, and i need to get it to boot from a CD drive first. Any suggestions? I don't know if it is the operating system that is causing this or is this some kinda laptop thing since I mostly deal with desktop computers only. Thanx in advance for any help.

Isn't F12 for other boot options and not to enter the BIOS? Try a different F key or the Del key; last Dell I worked on it was either F1 or F4.

The only other option (that I know of) for other boot options is the F8 which will give me the options for safe mode and such, but i will try other keys.

Try F2 and delete, or alt delete.
Also, if you want to find your exact motherboard, go to google and search SIW, and a link should come up called like System Information for Windows. If you download and run that, it will give you what ever you need to know about your system, including the motherboard make and model. Then you can search the makers website for how to enter the BIOS.

Chazell29, propflux01 has a laptop and troubleshooting them is a little different from desktops.

propflux01, I just checked a DELL Latitude D600 here at work and to get into the BIOS I had to hit the F2 key.

Oh I see, sorry. I was mainly going to see what type of motherboard it was, and then see how to get into the BIOS on that motherboard.

On most computers - if you'll watch the screen you'll see verbage saying things like: "Hit F2 to enter Setup"

Thank you, I will try that. Also, there was only the F8/F12 option when booting.

OK, I got into the bios, and arranged the boot order, got the thing to boot. Now that I am in, another problem has popped up. The display of the laptop is 14 inches, but the window of the operating system displayed is only half the size, and I cannot get it to expand to full screen (Sort of like when you open internet exploder, and select the middle button at the top right and it halves the window size). Looks like I am running windows 2K on a 7 inch screen. Now what am i missing here? I went into display, and tried to change setting sizes, with no change. Help!
