Hi. my pastor seems to have two installations of XP on his laptop (he had to reinstall after it crashed. How do I get rid of the one he isn't using? He tells me that the first one listed as a choice when booting is the one where his programs and stuff show up.
So, I need to know how to unistall the version he isn't using (the second option) without messing up his registry or programs. Thanks |

Open and edit the boot.ini to remove the second installation.

Boot it up with the XP CD, use the recovery console, and run bootcfg.

Does it matter which one I delete? From what I take from his description only one of the two installations (the first) show the programs and stuff that he uses.

Yes it can matter as 1 path leads to the good one and the other to the bad one.

That's what I figured. So how do I know which is the one to remove?
