Can't get out of safe mode, help!

Hello all,

Well I tried to get fancy on my work computer. I was going to defrag overnight and I wanted to start in safe mode. So I went into msconfig and clicked "Safeboot" in the boot.ini tab. When I restarted and it prompted me for my Windows login password, my password doesn't work (i'm thinking it connects to the network to verify but in safemode i have not network connection?). Anyway, is there a way I can get the computer to restart and not go into safe mode since I now have no way of getting to msconfig that I can think of? I'd rather not have to go to IT looking like an ass. Help! Thanks

Steve

edit: I guess what I need to do is edit the boot.ini file without getting into windows, if that is the case, anyone know how to?

You can press F8 when the system is booting and that will take you to the Windows boot menu.

However, If you aren't sure, play it safe and let your IT people look at it.
DO NOT start editing system files because you are too embarrassed to ask for help because you could seriously mess something up.

Played it safe and had IT look at it. They felt the easiest solution was a system restore point from a few days earlier. Didn't lose any files though, which is nice.
